Relaxation

It is so easy to get caught up in hustle and bustle of life. We are always looking at the next item ahead on our calendar. We are always planning, working, seeking.

For the first time in years, last week, we took our first REAL vacation. I spent three weeks busting my butt in order to take one week off… yea, that math doesn’t add up, but it was all worth it.

For one week, I was able to leave the phone(s) behind and be present with my family. I made memories with my babies. Memories that were uninterrupted by phone calls, emails, texts, and so on…

For one week, I was able to relax and be in awe of God’s beauty.

Be still, and know that I am God.
– Psalm 46:10

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
– Matthew 11:28

For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
– Hebrews 4:10

I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
– Jeremiah 31:25

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.
– Psalm 37:7

God has plans for us. He wants us to fulfill those plans. However, God also wants us to rest – in Him.

It is so important to set aside time to relax and let God to His thing.

What I didn’t tell you yet is… our vacation was in Tampa, Florida…

Yes.

Florida.

As hurricane Debby was coming through. God’s hand was on every turn of our vacation. We placed our time in His hands, and He did his thing.

God is good!

We truthfully had amazing weather and were kept safe the whole time.

We do not do this enough… turning the world off and letting God be God.

Taking time to rest and just be in His presence doesn’t have to be a week-long ordeal. Truthfully, this is something we can and should do every day.

Our families want the same.

We need to be OK with leaving the phone in a different room, while we are in the moment with our children. They need us more than our emails do.

This is something I am challenging you (and ME) to start doing on a regular basis.

Today is (apparently) Relaxation Day. Let this one day remind us that every day we need to take a beat, be still, and be present.

Our families need us to.

Our Heavenly Father needs us to.

Happy Relaxation Day!
